I was very honored to be asked to design a pattern for a Yarn Crush box earlier in the year. (More about that soon!) Yarn Crush is a monthly yarn subscription. I had never heard of it at that point and was pretty impressed when I looked into it. I love that you can customize your subscription. Obviously, like most any subscription services, you can opt for month-to-month, or sign up for 3, 6, or 12 months (and save!) There is even a bi-monthly option if you're a little more strict with your stash. I didn't think I'd like the idea of a monthly subscription (to anything!) since I'm very specific in my tastes and have very little leeway in my budget. I can't afford to get random items that I might not like or want. But then I learned you can select your preference for a warm, cool, neutral or "Surprise Me" colorway plan! That way you'll get exactly what you like!
I jumped at the chance to review on of their previous boxes here on my blog. My fist impression when receiving my box was that it was definitely like opening a present! It was thoughtfully packaged, colorful and cheerful and, honestly, I was surprised how much they fit in the little box! The box includes a skein of yarn, both a crochet and a knitting pattern, any notions required to complete your project, and extra goodies. The retail value of all the contents is given so you can see how much you're saving. There is also coupon codes to save on other patterns from the designers.
In my specific box, I got a skein of Alpaca Pima by Americo Original, patterns for a knit and a crochet market bag, drawstring cords and a button to finish them, as well as a little notebook and witty knitting themed pins. I personally love the bag pattern so I'll be casting that on ASAP.
Yarn Crush also just started a Sock Crush subscription. I've seen many knitters doing monthly sock challenges to fill up their sock drawers. Last year, I even did one myself--or tried to! It lost steam a little over halfway through. A monthly subscription like this would definitely help keep that from happening, taking a lot of planning and prepping off of your shoulders so you can jump right into the knitting. I'm thinking I might need to sign up for that!
If you're anything like me and get a little giddy getting packages in the mail, love the idea of trying new yarns and patterns, sign yourself up for Yarn Crush! You can also order previous boxes and featured yarns on their website.
